O! Maha Mount Dangrek

Smot Samples

Below is a sampling of live performances and recordings, based on "O! Maha Dangrek: Poetry of Cambodian Refugee Experiences." The performances are all done in smot. Smoth is defined by the nonprofit Cambodian Living Arts as "an integral and complicated part of singing unique to Khmer mourning," can also be used to symbolize "healing, acceptance, and letting go."
